# MarineAware Live

> MarineAware Live is a static, open-data maritime domain awareness (MDA) dashboard. It scores 12 global maritime chokepoints — Strait of Hormuz, Bab-el-Mandeb, Suez Canal, Bosphorus, Kerch Strait, Odesa, Taiwan Strait, South China Sea, Strait of Malacca, Panama Canal, Baltic cable zone and Strait of Gibraltar — every day, by fusing live open AIS vessel traffic, dated open-source (OSINT) reporting, metocean conditions and open satellite imagery into a per-hotspot risk picture. It is the open-source demonstrator of MarineAware's fusion approach; the operational version runs on licensed AIS/SAR, multispectral analysis and fine-tuned models.

- Each hotspot has a local map with live AIS vessels, a fused 21-day timeline (dated OSINT + AIS + weather), a metocean panel and a deterministic 0–100 risk score.

## Data sources (all open)

- AISStream.io — live AIS vessel positions.
- Jina / Exa — dated open-source reporting per zone.
- Open-Meteo — metocean (wind, gusts, wave and swell height, visibility).
- NASA GIBS — daily satellite true-color snapshots.
- (Optional) NASA FIRMS — thermal anomalies.

## Method

Numbers come from data; narrative comes from the model. The risk score is deterministic; a vision-language model, where enabled, only narrates the evidence and never sets a score or counts vessels from coarse imagery. The picture is honest about being the open-data free tier.
